We’re in the down swing of harvest in most berries. I say this every year but it’s going fast. We have a glut of blueberries coming in right now and the price is dropping. That being said, I have a few suggestions for getting through the rest of harvest.

Not sure why we’re always surprised to see the beginning of the end of many caneberry and blueberry varieties at this time of year. Plans and pricing are impacted by the concurrent PNW blueberry harvests taking place at this moment, leading to a typical decrease in price.

We are in the first stretch of moderate weather we’ve had for several weeks. I hate to say it but this weather combo + final picks hanging longer for machine harvest = populations increasing exponentially.

The heatwave predicted this week has tapered off slightly in the Willamette Valley but those temperatures will still affect insects like SWD, not to mention fruit quality.

After 3 days above 90°F/ 32°C, the PNW is in an official heatwave. Please use any and all cooling methods to keep your crop in the best condition for harvest post-heat.
