Small Fruit Update Week 32, 2026

The heatwave is upon us! Remember the one good thing this heat is doing is helping us battle SWD. I haven’t spoken about this particular concern for a couple weeks so why not provide you with an update.
The heat from the third week in July dropped SWD pressure last week. The incredibly dry conditions in the region are also helping drop the pressure.

We are seeing higher SWD populations than we have seen in the past few years. But that said, field issues have not materialized and field finds have been random and isolated. There will definitely be an opportunity to review/discuss at the end of this season what ‘normal’ should mean for SWD as a pest and how it is managed.
